Employment of Staff

  • The Board hires employees to fill all staff positions.

  • The Board will provide a job description for each staff position where appropriate.  The job description states the responsibilities and authority of the position.

  • The Board and the Members must pass a by-law or a special resolution if they want to employ an outside agency to provide management services.

  • A permanent employee cannot live in the Co-op.

  • No Member shall be hired to a paid position in the Co-op.

  • All employees will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

  • All employees shall have cleared a background and credit check.

 
Supervision of Staff

  • The Board is the final authority for the Co-op in relation to employees.  It sets the terms of employment.

  • The employees work under the instructions of the Board.  However, the personnel policy or job description may state that some employees will work under the instructions of a senior employee.  

  • Employees must provide to the Board, upon request, any relevant information pertaining to their position as it relates to and affects the day-to-day management of the Co-op.
